Babbitt bearings, also referred to as  white metal bearings, consist of a thin layer of metal that supports high-speed rotatory applications. Babbitt alloy bearing, also known as white metal bearings, is also referred to as oil film bearings by some people. They can bear heavy loads while effectively controlling friction and maintaining cooler temperatures.  The main components are Tin (Sn), Lead (Pb), and Copper (Cu). Different composition ratios will give Babbitt alloy different properties. The speed, operating temperature, load, and other working conditions of the shaft usually determine how to choose raw materials. 

In the metal processing and manufacturing industry. High speed wire rod mills use various specifications of Babbitt alloy bearings, and precision gearbox shafts work at extremely high speeds and large loads. Oil film bearings bear the radial load of high-speed shafts, and typically positioning bearings are a set of paired angular contact ball bearings. 

The top-brands SMS, Morgan and Danieli usually have this design. Many second line rolling mill brands have also followed this efficient design. Under normal circumstances, as long as users control the rolling temperature of steel, the viscosity, oil pressure, cleanliness, and quality of rolling mill lubricating oil, the service life of oil film bearings will be very long.
