Double-direction axial tapered roller bearings can support very high axial forces in both directions. In these ready-to-fit bearings, the axial internal clearance is set by the ring between the housing locating washers. For example, the bearings are used in blooming and section rolling stands. Double-row thrust tapered roller bearing is a separable bearing consisting of two outer rings, two inner rings, and a tapered roller in the middle. The double-row taper roller thrust bearings come with tapered raceway on the shaft and housing washers. These bearings typically have a higher axial load-carrying capacity than the bearings with a plane shaft washer and can also radially locate the shaft to some extent. If the load-carrying capacity of these bearings falls short of the required life, the double-row taper roller bearings with a large contact angle can be used.
Usually, the double-direction taper roller thrust bearings are mounted in a loose fit on the roll neck and in the chock equipment. Therefore, the shaft washer of most bearings has one or two locating slots. This prevents the shaft washer from rotating on its seating by using keys that engage the slots or other similar methods.
Double-row thrust tapered roller bearings have the following characteristics
